Google, in 2017 launched its own UPI based payment app in India by the name of Tez. In the next year, it was re-branded as Google Pay. If you have registered under UPI, then you can use Google Pay to send and receive money any time. It is a useful mobile application to help you make contactless payments to shopkeepers or friends.

To set up your account in Google Pay UPI app follow these steps:

  • Open the Google Pay (Tez) app on your mobile phone and select your preferred language.
  • After which, enter the mobile number, which is linked to your bank account.
  • In the next step, choose your Gmail account.
  • Now, verify your mobile number by entering the OTP received on it.
  • Lastly, set up a Security Password for your Google Pay account. It can either be the screen lock of your phone or separate Google PIN.

The features of Google Pay App are as following:

  • Google provides high-end multi-layer security to the users of Google Pay.
  • The actual information of your bank account, card number or CVV is not shared with merchants or the person to whom you are making the payment.
  • You can use Google Pay for the transaction to any bank which supports operations from BHIM UPI.
  • You can also check the balance in your account without having to open your net banking account.
  • You can transfer upto Rs. 1 lakh in 24 hours. Thus it makes it super easy to transfer both big and small amounts.
  • The Google Pay (Tez) supports 8 Indian languages, and these are; Bengali, Hindi, English, Kannada, Marathi, Gujrati, Tamil and Telegu.
  • You can make transactions from Google Pay in 5 different ways; Phone number, cash mode, bank account, QR Scan, and UPI ID.

Transaction Limit & Charges of Google Pay

As per Google Pay Help, you cannot send more than ₹ 1 lakh across all UPI apps in one day. Also, you cannot make more than 10 transactions across UPI apps in a single day. At present Google Pay do not charge for both Person to Person and Person to Merchant payments.

  • Go to the app store on your smartphone.
  • Now, in the search bar type, ‘Google Pay’, and search for the app in the store.
