What is CVV Number?

CVV is amongst the various details that are printed on a credit or debit card such as card holder name, card number, issued date and expiry date. All the details mentioned on the card are unique to the cardholder and are used to make payments. However, what enhances the security of a card is the CVV no.

CVV full form is Card Verification Value. The CVV number should never be shared by anyone, in order to ensure the safety factor against fraudulent activities. CVV number is also called a CSC number or Card security code, or CVV2 number. The CVV on the card is generated by the card issuer based on various details such as :
