Structure of Form 49A

  • Father's name- Name of father is mentioned with the first name, last name and Surname in this part of the Form.
  • Address- The applicant needs to enter both the details of their residence address and office address.
  • Address of communication- In this part of Form, an applicant needs to choose between the office or residence address for any means of communication.
  • Telephone number and email id- The applicant needs to mention the telephone/mobile number along with the Country code and State code.
  • Status of applicant- The applicant also has to mention if they are an individual, a HUF member, Company, Partnership firm, etc.
  • Registration number- The registration number for the company, firms, LLPs, etc. are mentioned in this section.
  • Aadhaar number- This section contains information about the Aadhaar card.
  • Source of income- In this section, an applicant needs to mention all sources of revenue.
  • Representative Assessee (RA)- The applicant needs to provide the address and name of the person if any other person files the Income Tax.
  • Documents- The applicant also needs to mention all the documents that have been submitted along with the Form.

How to Fill PAN Form 49A Online?

To fill PAN Form 49 A online, follow the below-mentioned procedure.

  • Firstly, log in to NSDL or UTI official portal and read all the guidelines mentioned.
  • Now, from the drop-down menu in the bottom of the page, choose the category click on 'next'. You will now be redirected to Form 49A.
  • Ensure that you fill-up the Form in English only.
  • Next, provide the AO code details in the application form. You can get the AO Code details from the link provided in the Form.
  • Fill all the required details like the full name with a prefix, date of birth, gender, address and other essential information.
  • Verify all the details and select the correct document type that you are enclosing with the application form.
  • Next, choose the appropriate mode of fee payment and make payment for ₹ 107 . This fee is charged for the dispatch of PAN to Indian communication address. If the PAN is dispatched from a communication address outside India, you will need to pay a fee of ₹ 994 . Payment can be made through credit card or net banking online
  • Attach all the scanned copies of proofs and submit the application.

How to Fill PAN Card Form Offline?

If you want to fill PAN card Form 49 A offline, you need to follow the below-mentioned procedure.

  • Firstly, visit NSDL or UTI portal and download the form 49A in PDF format and take a print out.
  • Now, fill the required details in the Form including your name, date of birth, address, contact details etc.
  • Affix two passport size photographs on the top corner of the Form and sign across the photo. In case a thumb impression is used, it should be duly attested by a Gazetted Officer, Magistrate or even a Notary Public with official seal and stamp.
  • Next, duly fill the AO code, the information about which can be obtained from NSDL or UTI portal or the Income Tax office or PAN centre.
  • Attach all the necessary documents for proof, as mentioned in the Form.
  • Finally, read through the filled Form and submit the duly filled Form to NSDL e-Gov. Or UTIITSL office along with the acknowledgement copy received online, and fee Demand draft with the envelope labelled 'APPLICATION FOR PAN— N-Acknowledgement Number'.

Here are a few things that you must keep the following things in mind before filling the Form 49 A.

  • You can fill Form 49 A only in the English language.
  • Always fill the Form with block letters and preferably in black ink.
  • You should fill each box with only a single character, leaving an empty box after each character.
  • You should not staple or clip the photograph to the Form to provide a photo with good clarity.
  • Always ensure that the signature or the thumbprint is on the photograph as well as the Form. Also, all the details are filled correctly to avoid rejection of the application.
  • You should mention complete details including details of town, city and pin code while providing the address.
