PAN Card Cost in India

PAN Card is a mandatory document for filing Income tax returns. It also acts as an identity card, helps in opening a bank account and investing in the financial instruments. Thus, owning a PAN card becomes imperative. Owning a PAN card is not an expensive affair, it involves minimal cost. Application for fresh allotment of PAN can be made by visiting the official website of UTITSL or NSDL. Individuals residing within the country need to pay a fee of ₹ 101 , which includes a processing fee of ₹ 86 plus GST @ 18.00%.

PAN Card Fees for NRIs

Individuals are required to have a PAN card for carrying out financial transactions in India. The government charges a fee of ₹ 1,011.00 [ (Application fee + Dispatch Charges ₹ 857 ) + 18.00% Goods & Service tax ] for new PAN application.

Charges for Reprint or Changes PAN Card in India

There might be some errors in the information provided on the PAN card or an individual may lose a PAN card. In all those cases the new card is issued. Individuals are required to pay a charge of ₹ 110 which includes a processing fee of ₹ 93.00 + GST of 18%. Foreign entities have to pay a fee of ₹ 1,020 which includes Application fee of ₹ 93.00 + Dispatch charges of ₹ 771 + GST of 18.00 % to make the changes or get a new card.

Charges Applicable on e-PAN Card

Individuals now have the option to opt only for the e-PAN card and not request for a physical card. The charges are as follow:

Modes of Payment for PAN Card Charges

  • Indian and Non-Indian Residents: Indian Residents and NRIs have the option to pay the PAN card charges through Debit Cards/ Credit cards, Demand Drafts or Net Banking. Paying through Debit or Credit card will attract an additional charge up to 2% for the application fee. Whereas, payment through Net Banking involves a surcharge of ₹ 4 plus GST. If the payment is done through Demand Draft, the DD must be in the favour of NSDL PAN.
  • Foreigners: Individuals living outside the communication address of India territory have the option to pay the PAN card charges through Debit Cards/ Credit cards, Demand Drafts or Net Banking. Paying through Debit or Credit card will attract an additional charge up to 2% for the application fee. Whereas, payment through Net Banking involves a surcharge of ₹ 4 plus GST. Further, foreign residents have to pay additional exchange charges imposed by the financial institution to initiate such payments.

PAN Fee Refund

PAN application of an individual can be rejected if the information provided is incorrect/incomplete or failure to adhere to the instructions. In all those cases, individuals are not provided with a fee refund. They can reapply for the Permanent Account Number by rectifying the error, using the same payment details.

    The income tax department again extended the deadline for linking of PAN card and Aadhaar card. The deadline for the PAN Aadhar linking is extended to 31st March 2021. The decision was taken in the wake of COVID 19 outbreak.

    Finance Minister launched the facility for instant allotment of PAN card using Aadhaar-based e-KYC. The facility is available for all those Permanent Account Number applicants who possess a valid Aadhaar number and have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Further, the allotment process is paperless, and an electronic PAN (e-PAN) is issued to the applicants free of cost.
