The government has declared that the customers will get one free credit report from 1st January, 2017. This rule is applicable for all the credit bureau including CIBIL, Equifax, Experian and CRIF High Mark. The customer can thus check free credit score and report online at the websites of respective credit bureaus. However, each credit bureau has a different process and format of providing an online credit report. Further, the report is available only once a year, and some bureaus publish a shorter and concise version of the report, rather than providing a complete credit report to the customers.

CIBIL Report Online

To check your free CIBIL score, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Login to CIBIL website and click on ‘my Account’, if you are already a member of CIBIL.
  • Then, click on ‘Get Free Score and Report’ and check the free credit score instantly once in a year.
  • If you are a new user, then visit the CIBIL website, choose ‘Get your free annual score and report’ and register yourself. Now, you can get the free credit score immediately.

However, if you have already availed the benefit of a free CIBIL score check and want another report within a year, you have to make a payment of the nominal fee amount. You can then get the credit score on email after the authentication and payment is made.

Paid CIBIL Report

To get a paid CIBIL report, follow the below-mentioned steps:

Login to the CIBIL website and fill the application form by providing personal details and click on the ‘submit’ option. To get an annual report, you have to make a payment of ₹ 550 either through net banking or debit/credit card. Once the payment is confirmed, the next step is of authentication where you have to answer 3 out of 5 questions based on credit history. If the verification and payment process are successfully done, the score will be sent to your email id within 24 hours.

The process of checking the report online is quick and convenient for you. A score of 750 is considered trustworthy by lenders for providing a loan.

Equifax Credit Report

To get free credit score provided by Equifax, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • In order to check full free credit report, you have to download the Equifax App from Google Play store or from iOS App store.
  • Open the application and enter your email id. You will receive a temporary pin. Use it for login to Equifax account.
  • The next step is the verification process. Give all your details and aadhaar card number to validate the identity.
  • A one-time password will be generated. Enter the OTP and proceed further.
  • Now, provide all your personal information and answer three questions based on credit history.
  • After the authentication process is confirmed, the full free credit report will be sent to your email id within 24 hours.

You can check the quarterly credit report by paying an amount of ₹ 138 (including taxes). The steps include:

CRIF High Mark Credit Report

    To assess the credit quality customers in the small and medium enterprises (SME) segment, Bank of Baroda and CRISIL have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). CRISIL will assess the SMEs by analyzing the data streams through its digital platform its proprietary platform for data and analytics. This facility will be available for both existing and prospective customers from the SME segment, the lender said.

    Private sector lender, Allahabad Bank is offering a concession of 10 basis points to its home loan borrowers. Currently, the lender is offering 8.85% on home loans up to Rs. 25 lakh and 9.10% above Rs. 3 crores.

    According to the latest borrower data analysed by the TransUnion CIBIL, growth in the unsecured loans like personal loans and credit cards grew 31.3% year-on-year basis as on December 2018 which is more than double the growth recorded by the overall bank credit. However, the secured loan category like a gold loan, home loan, auto loan, and mortgage loan has witnessed moderate growth. The reason for the sharp growth in the unsecured segment is due to the improved ability of lenders to extend loans to the borrowers.
