SBI earlier used to send the PIN mailers which used to conceal the PIN with scratch panels with debit and credit cards to its customers. SBI replaced this traditional method with a new one known as Green PIN, which has made the PIN generation process or changing the existing PIN more convenient and straightforward for the customers. In addition to this, this process reduces security concerns and promotes digital banking. Thus, the PIN generation process becomes essential.

SBI provides the customers with a facility to generate the SBI PIN on their own within minutes. There are simpler and convenient processes to create the PIN using the ATM, internet banking, sending SMS and calling the SBI customer care.

How to generate SBI Debit Card PIN at SBI ATM?

Individuals can change and generate the SBI Debit card PIN by visiting the nearest SBI ATMs. the process for generating the PIN is as follow:

  • Visit the nearest SBI ATM and Insert the debit card in the ATM
  • Select 'PIN Generation' option
  • You will be required to enter your 11-digit account number. Enter the same and click 'Confirm'.
  • Then enter the registered mobile number, and press 'Confirm'.
  • Then the screen will display 'Your green PIN will be shortly delivered to your registered mobile number'.
  • Press 'Confirm' to see another message 'Your Green PIN generation has been successful, and you will receive the same on your mobile number'.
  • You will then receive a message on your number with OTP or the green PIN.
  • Within 2 days, you are required to visit any SBI ATM and select the 'Banking>PIN Change' option and enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number when the ATM asks to enter the SBI ATM PIN. Then, change the SBI ATM PIN.

SBI PIN Generation by SMS

Account-holders are also provided with an option to change the Green PIN by sending the message from the registered mobile number.

  • Send an SMS using your registered mobile number in the format PIN ABCD EFGH.
  • Here, ABCD means the last four digits of the SBI ATM card while EFGH means the last four digits of SBI Account Number.
  • Once the SMS is sent, you will receive a One Time Password to the registered number. The OTP will be valid for two days and should be used to generate debit card PIN by visiting nearest SBI ATMs.

SBI ATM PIN by Calling SBI Customer Care

Customers can also generate an ATM PIN by calling SBI customer care. Steps are as follows:

  • Using the registered number, Call SBI toll free customer care.
  • Select the preferred language and follow the instructions and select the 'ATM and Prepaid Card Services' option.
  • Select the option to generate Green PIN.
  • You will be required to enter your debit card number. Enter the same and confirm.
  • You will be required to enter the account number linked to the debit card, enter the same and confirm
  • Once you confirm all the details, you will receive an SMS with OTP in your registered number which will be valid for two days, during which you can visit the nearest SBI ATMs to generate your debit card PIN.

SBI ATM Card PIN Generation Online using Internet Banking

Steps for generating the SBI PIN online using internet banking are as follow:

  • Log in to your net banking using the credentials.
  • From the main menu, select the option of Card Pin.
  • Click on Generate PIN on Debit Card PIN section.
  • Select the debit card and enter your 16 digit number with CVV code,
  • Enter the grid number printed at the back of the card and Generate OTP.
  • Enter the 4 digit OTP you received on your registered mobile number and Submit.
  • Type the new PIN. You will receive confirmation of PIN generation on the display of net banking, on your registered mobile number and your registered email ID.

  • 2021-05-21 : SBI net profit rises 81% YoY
    State Bank of India’s quarterly net profit rose 81% year-on-year to Rs 6,451 crore for the three months ended March. The bank’s total domestic advances rose 5.67% year-on-year to Rs 21.82 lakh crore. Retail advances which include home, LAP, personal, two-wheeler, car, gold, education and doctor loan stood at Rs 8.7 lakh crore. Further, total domestic deposits for SBI which include FD and RD rose 14.26% from a year ago to Rs 35.7 lakh crore. The current account and savings account deposits rose 16.73% year-on-year to Rs 16.47 lakh crore.

    With an aim to improve the customer experience and improve the loan and investment portfolio, SBI introduced KYC on its Mobile banking app YONO. The digital initiative, powered by AI and Facial Recognition Technology, is a contactless and paperless process.

    SBI is planning to increase the share of its newly created business vertical, financial inclusion and micro-markets from the current 12% to 20% by March 2022. The bank recently created a separate FI&MM vertical within the bank with an aim of financial inclusion of rural and semi-urban areas to improve customer experience in the hinterland.
  • 2020-11-05 : SBI net profit rises to ₹4,574 crores in Q2
    SBI September quarter net profit jumped 52% year-on-year to Rs 4,574.16 crore as the provisions declined during the quarter. Credit growth for the bank logged an improvement of 6.02% over the previous year driven by home, personal, car, two-wheeler and gold loan along with mudra and business loan. Total advances at the end of Q2 were at Rs 23.83 trillion. Further, total Deposits which includes fixed and recurring deposits grew at 14.4% on a yearly basis to Rs 34.70 trillion, out of which current account deposit grew by 8.55% YoY while saving bank deposits grew by 16.28 per cent YoY.
