IDBI earlier used to send the PIN mailers which used to conceal the PIN with scratch panels with debit and credit cards to its customers. IDBI Bank replaced this traditional method with a new one known as Green PIN, which has made the PIN generation process or changing the existing PIN more convenient and straightforward for the customers. In addition to this, this process reduces security concerns and promotes digital banking. Thus, the PIN generation process becomes essential.

IDBI provides the customers with a facility to generate the IDBI PIN on their own within minutes. There are simpler and convenient processes to create the PIN using the ATM, internet banking, sending SMS and calling the IDBI Bank customer care.

How to generate IDBI Debit Card PIN at IDBI ATM?

Individuals can change and generate the IDBI Debit card PIN by visiting the nearest IDBI ATMs. the process for generating the PIN is as follow:

  • Visit the nearest IDBI ATM and Insert the debit card in the ATM
  • Select 'PIN Generation' option
  • You will be required to enter your 11-digit account number. Enter the same and click 'Confirm'.
  • Then enter the registered mobile number, and press 'Confirm'.
  • Then the screen will display 'Your green PIN will be shortly delivered to your registered mobile number'.
  • Press 'Confirm' to see another message 'Your Green PIN generation has been successful, and you will receive the same on your mobile number'.
  • You will then receive a message on your number with OTP or the green PIN.
  • Within 2 days, you are required to visit any IDBI ATM and select the 'Banking>PIN Change' option and enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number when the ATM asks to enter the IDBI ATM PIN. Then, change the IDBI ATM PIN.

IDBI PIN Generation by SMS

Account-holders are also provided with an option to change the Green PIN by sending the message from the registered mobile number.

  • Send an SMS using your registered mobile number in the format PIN ABCD EFGH.
  • Here, ABCD means the last four digits of the IDBI ATM card while EFGH means the last four digits of IDBI Account Number.
  • Once the SMS is sent, you will receive a One Time Password to the registered number. The OTP will be valid for two days and should be used to generate debit card PIN by visiting nearest IDBI ATMs.

IDBI ATM PIN by Calling IDBI Customer Care

Customers can also generate an ATM PIN by calling IDBI customer care. Steps are as follows:

  • Using the registered number, Call IDBI toll free customer care.
  • Select the preferred language and follow the instructions and select the 'ATM and Prepaid Card Services' option.
  • Select the option to generate Green PIN.
  • You will be required to enter your debit card number. Enter the same and confirm.
  • You will be required to enter the account number linked to the debit card, enter the same and confirm
  • Once you confirm all the details, you will receive an SMS with OTP in your registered number which will be valid for two days, during which you can visit the nearest IDBI ATMs to generate your debit card PIN.

IDBI ATM Card PIN Generation Online using Internet Banking

Steps for generating the IDBI PIN online using internet banking are as follow:

  • Log in to your net banking using the credentials.
  • From the main menu, select the option of Card Pin.
  • Click on Generate PIN on Debit Card PIN section.
  • Select the debit card and enter your 16 digit number with CVV code,
  • Enter the grid number printed at the back of the card and Generate OTP.
  • Enter the 4 digit OTP you received on your registered mobile number and Submit.
  • Type the new PIN. You will receive confirmation of PIN generation on the display of net banking, on your registered mobile number and your registered email ID.

  • 2021-06-14 : IDBI to revise services like free transaction limits and number of free cheques
    IDBI is set to revise the savings bank account services like free transaction limits (for select facilities) and lock discounts offered to individual savings bank customers. From July 1, 2021, the customers will get only 20 free cheque leaves per year
  • 2021-01-15 : IDBI Bank reported Rs 378-crore profit
    IDBI Bank posted a net profit of Rs 378 crore for the December quarter. The loans which includes home, LAP, personal, car, two-wheeler, gold, education and doctor loan along with business and mudra loans fell 7% to Rs 1.6 lakh crore (y-o-y) in December 2020. The bank’s total deposits which includes fixed and recurring deposits rose 2.85% y-o-y to Rs 2.24 lakh crore at the end of December 2020. In addition to this, CASA improved to 48.97% as on December 31, 2020.
  • 2020-10-20 : IDBI Bank launched banking services on WhatsApp
    IDBI Bank launched the banking service on WhatsApp. WhatsApp Banking service will be offered through a dedicated WhatsApp verified number. The bank customers will be able to avail various essential banking services such as account balance information, last five transactions, request for a cheque book and an email statement through newly launched WhatsApp banking services.     IDBI Bank reported Rs 144 crore net profit for June quarter on account of a reversal of Rs 1335 crore of bad loan provisioning. It is IDBI second successive net profit after 13 consecutive quarters of loss. CASA increased to ₹ 1,04,315 crore and cost of deposit which includes fixed and recurring deposits improved by 64 bps to 4.65%. In addition to this, NII bolstered by home, personal, gold, car and two-wheeler loan along with business and mudra loans stood at ₹ 1,773 crores.
