What is mAadhaar App?

mAadhaar is an official mobile application launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in 2017. The mAadhaar app allows individuals to carry their demographic information like name, date of birth, address linked with their aadhar number on their smartphones. A person can download the aadhar card app on all android phones and iOs users with version 5.0 and above and version 10.0 and above, respectively. A maximum of three profiles can be added on one mobile, provided all three aadhaar profiles have registered to the same number in their aadhar cards. This App is password-protected, but if a person loses his/her phone, in an unfortunate condition, then they should block their SIM because they may lose their essential information otherwise.

How to Install the Aadhar Card App in your Phone?

To install the Aadhar Card app in your android smartphone follow the below-given steps:-

  • Go to Google Play Store or App store (if iOS user).
  • Search MAadhar App.
  • Click Install.
  • Give the required permission which is asked.
  • Now go to Maadhar app which is downloaded on your phone.
  • Set a password (in numerals only) for the App, every time you log in you will be asked for a password.

Steps to add profile in mAadhaar App

To add a profile in maadhaar online App perform the following steps:-

  • Go to Maadhar app.
  • To login use four-digit numeric password.
  • From the upper right corner in the App, click on the three dots.
  • iOS user should click on ‘My Aadhaar’ which is available at the bottom.
  • Click ‘Add Profile’.
  • Enter your Aadhar number or scan the QR code which is available on your Aadhar card.
  • Enter the captcha and click next.
  • Allow relevant permissions to access SMS on the phone.
  • An OTP will be sent and it will be auto-filled.
  • The aadhar details will be updated on your phone.
  • Now all the aadhar information can be accessed at any time.

How to Remove Your Profile from mAadhar App?

In case you wish you remove the profile from mAadhar then you should follow the below-given steps:-

  • Open the mAadhar App
  • To login enter the password
  • Click on the Aadhar profile
  • From the top right corner click on the three dots
  • Click on ‘Delete Profile’
  • Enter the login password
  • Click on ‘Yes’ when asked if you are sure you want to delete the profile
  • The app will delete the profile

Lock/Unlock Biometrics Through the mAadhar App

A mAadhar user can lock/unlock biometrics. To lock or unlock the biometrics perform the following steps.

To lock biometric details:

  • Open the mAadhar App.
  • To login enter the password.
  • Click on the Aadhar profile.
  • Go to the top right corner of the App and click on ‘ Biometric Settings’.
  • Click ‘Enable Biometric Lock’.
  • The app will show a disclaimer.
  • Click on Ok.
  • An OTP will be sent and it will be auto-filled.
  • Your Biometric Id will be locked.

To unlock biometric details:

  • Open the mAadhar App.
  • To login, enter the password.
  • Click on the Aadhar profile.
  • Go to the top right corner of the App and click on ‘ Biometric Settings’.
  • Click ‘Enable Biometric Lock’.
  • A disclaimer will be shown ‘Your biometric will be temporarily unlocked.’
  • Click on Ok.
  • An OTP will be sent and it will be auto-filled.
  • Your Biometric Id will be locked.

Advantage / Disadvantages of Aadhar Card App

Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of aadhar card app:-

Advantages :-

  • An Indian citizen is not required to carry their Aadhar card physically any more.
  • With QR code, barcodes or NFC an app user can share their data with third-party applications.
  • The App sends you a Time based One Time Password (T-OTP) instead of One Time Password (OTP). T-OTP implies more security.

Disadvantages :-

  • There is no way to enter OTP manually.
  • There are multiple apps with the same name, so one must be careful which one to download.
  • The App crashes often and fails to connect to the server.
