Procedure to Apply for Aadhar Card
The process to apply for aadhaar card is the same for an adult, minor or senior citizen. Following are the steps to be undertaken for aadhaar application:
- Open this URL to find the Aadhaar enrolment centre near you; https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1.
- Although you cannot apply for aadhaar card online, you can book your visit to the enrolment centre on the official website; https://aadharcardsuid.com/aadhaar-card-apply-online.
- Before visiting the centre, make sure to carry these documents with you such as Proof of date of birth, Identity Proof, and Address proof.
- As you visit the enrolment centre, take the enrolment form from the counter and fill it.
- After filling the form with the required information, submit it along with the supporting documents.
- After submitting the form, the representative will take your biometrics and photograph.
- An acknowledgement slip will be given to you after the completion of the process as proof of your enrolment. It will have a 14 digits enrolment number which you can use to track the status of your aadhaar card.
- Based on the information acquired and upon verification, your aadhaar card will be sent to your address via post.

Downloading Your E-aadhaar
After you have enrolled for Aadhaar, you can check the status of your aadhaar application. Based on it when your aadhaar is made, you can also download it from the official website of UIDAI. The E-aadhaar that you download is password protected, which is the first four letters of your name in ‘CAPITAL’ along with your birth year. After you open the pdf file of E-aadhaar, you can also print it if you want.

✅Can I make two Aadhar card?
No, only one Aadhaar card can be made for one individual.
✅Can I get a new Aadhar card?
Yes, you can update your address or other information on your aadhaar and get a new Aadhar card. However, your aadhar number will remain the same; only the information will get updated.
✅Can I apply for an Aadhar card online for a child?
You can get the aadhar card for a child, but it cannot be applied online. For enrolment, you have to visit the enrolment centre with the child to aadhaar for him/her.
✅Is Aadhaar card sent by post?
Yes, aadhaar card is sent by post to your registered address after it is made.
✅What if the Aadhar card is not delivered?
In case of aadhaar card not being delivered to your address, you can contact the call centre on 1800-180-1947, or you can even email them about this along with your acknowledgement number at help@uidai.gov.in. Alternatively, you can also download the E-aadhaar from the UIDAI website.
