When do you need to track Aadhaar card status?

If you have enrolled for a new Aadhar card or updated the details on Aadhar card, you can check the status of your Aadhar card. The status of Aadhar card can be tracked through the website of UIDAI or mobile phone via toll-free number or SMS.

How to check and track Aadhaar card status?

To examine the status of your Aadhar card, you need the enrolment number or id. The enrollment id is a combination of 14-digit enrollment number and 14 digit date and time provided on the Aadhar acknowledgment. Slip. You can check Aadhaar Status both through online and offline mode.

Status Check for New Aadhaar Card

There are two modes to check the status of the new Aadhar card. Either you can track the Aadhar status online through the official website of UIDAI, or you can also know the status via your mobile number.

Check Aadhar Card Status through UIDAI

The process of getting any information related to Aadhar card has been made simpler by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). If you have applied for a new Aadhar card, you can track the status of Aadhar card by performing these steps on the official website of UIDAI.

Step 1. Login to UIDAI website. Once you have logged on to the website of UIDAI, you will find the ‘My Aadhar’ icon on the top left corner of the page.

Step 2. From the dropdown menu, click the ‘Check Aadhar Status’ button and fill in necessary details like enrollment id and captcha for verification.

Step 3. Once you have filled all the details, click on ‘Check status’.

Step 4. On clicking the ‘Check Status’ button, you will see either of the windows.

If Aadhar card has been generated: Aadhaar card number along with the links to download Aadhar card.
If Aadhar card has not been generated: You can track the stage of the status of Aadhaar card if the application is still in process. In case the application has been rejected, you can check the reason for the same.

Check Aadhar Card Status using Mobile

To check if Aadhar card has been generated, you can track the status using your registered mobile number. However, the mobile number must be verified if you want to check the Aadhar status using mobile. To track the Aadhar status, you simply need to send an SMS “UID STATUS’ < 14 digit enrolment number > to 51969. If your Aadhar card is generated, you will get the Aadhar number, and in case it is still in process, you will get information about the stage of the status update. 

Checking Aadhar Card Address Update Status through UIDAI

To track the status of update of Aadhar card log on to the website of UIDAI and follow these steps:

Step 1. Click on “Check Aadhaar Update Status” button from the drop-down menu of ‘Update your Aadhar'.

Step 2. Fill in necessary details like Enrolment ID (EID), Time of enrolment, and Captcha for verification.

Step 3. After filling in the necessary details, click on the 'Check Status' button.

Step 4. On clicking the ‘Get status’’ button, you will see either your update application was accepted or rejected. If the update was successful, you could download your Aadhar card, and in case the request was denied, you need to restart the process to update the information again.

Check Aadhar Card Update Status using Mobile

You can track the status update of Aadhar card anytime and anywhere on your mobile phones using the toll-free number. However, to check the status using your mobile number, you should register your mobile number. You need to follow these steps to check Aadhar card status using mobile:

Step 1. Dial the toll-free number 1800-300-1947 from your registered mobile number.

Step 2. When you dial the number, you will be asked to choose the preferred language from the seven options that are English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and others.

Step 3. After choosing the language, you will be asked details like ‘ if you have enrolled for Aadhar card or not’, ’if you have URN number or not’.

Step 4. To know about the status update, provide the URN number, and in case if you don’t have URN number, your call will be transferred to UIDAI representative, who will further tell you about the status of the update of your Aadhar card.

Check Aadhar Card Status through Name

If you have misplaced your enrolment id, you can track the status of your Aadhar card using your name. To check the status through name, you need to follow these steps.

Step 1. Go to the official website of UIDAI and retrieve lost or forgotten EID (Enrolment ID) by clicking on ‘retrieve lost or forgotten EID/UID’ button.

Step 2. Select the ‘Enrolment ID’ option and fill in details like your full name, mobile number or email address, and captcha verification to get OTP on your registered number or id.

Step 3. Enter the OTP and click on verify OTP to get the enrolment number.

Step 4. Once you know the enrolment number, you can know about the status through online or offline mode.

Once your Aadhar number is generated, you can download the e-Aadhar as a PDF file. Copy of Aadhar can be downloaded by providing Aadhar number or Enrolment Id on https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/.

  • 2021-07-02 : Change in DoB, Mobile No, Address on Aadhaar on your own
    UIDAI has introduced a new update to its official portal. This new update allows those who have moved to a new residential address to change the said address on their current Aadhaar identification by themselves. Through the self-service portal on the Aadhaar website, users can update these details among others.
  • 2021-07-02 : Only PAN card and Aadhaar required for MSME registration
    The government has simplified the registration process for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and they will now only need to furnish PAN and Aadhaar to register.
